One of the arguments against psychology as a science is that psychology is a study of the way a person behaves and thinks and this is thought to not be observable because it isn't purely physical. Psychologists respond with the fact that they too have to use scientific methods and that they never claim to know or describe the mentality of any thing that is observable.

I think that psychology is just as scientific as say chemistry, it just requires a different mentality and it relies more on experience than hard facts.

Some believe psychology isn't a science because evidence used is based on experience and not hard fact. Psychologists respond by saying that most of the research is verifiable. I believe it is a science because the research they create is used to help people and can be true even if it isn't concrete.

An argument about psychology as a science is that psychologist don't collect "hard" facts or research. Psychologist argue this notion by saying that they use the same scientific method. I personally think that Psychology could be both a "hard science" and a "soft science" because it does use the scientific method for results and observations but its also a soft science because the don't come out with "hard" facts.

An argument against Psychology as a science is that it is an immeasurable science, thoughts, emotions, and other things that go on "inside", as the article put it, are not measurable things. Many Psychologist say that they do not try to define these "inner" mental states, they state that Psychological research is done using only empirical methods. In my opinion Psychology is still a science whether it is called a "soft" science or not either way there is still science behind understanding how the mind works and understanding the behaviors of humans and animals.

One of the arguments against Psychology is that it is not a "hard" science, it is categorized as a soft science. Some Psychologists do not agree with this. Psychologists respond by stating that they use scientific methods and follow the scientific principles. Other Psychologists and scholars simply state that the matter of Psychology being classified as a "soft" or "hard" science is not very useful. My personal opinion on the status is that I do not really find the matter useful. I feel that there are better things to do than just constantly argue over what field a science should be classified as.

One of the arguments against Psychology as a science is that it isn't a 'hard' science. It isn't ever an exact value. It isn't hard undeniable proof as newton's laws, math, and physics. Psychologists respond in three main ways (as the document stated)
